There is No Rush

Going through the days, the months, the years, I often find myself forgetting, that really life hopefully will be quite long. I pack my days full of things. I fill up my mind with plans I want to make reality, my heart overflowing with adventures I want to have and dreams I want to pursue.

All within the next two months.

Time flies by and you get pulled along in it's flow. But actually life will be the longest thing we'll ever know...so maybe it's time to stop for a moment. To look around at the sea washing upon the shore, to the sun that sets and rises, a thing certain to be each day. Slow and steady, the earth turns and the trees reach out their long limbs to cradle the sky and sing to the stars.

Maybe we should learn from this...maybe we should adopt the pace of nature... for her secret is patience...She does not hurry and yet everything is accomplished.

In flowing with the rush of time, it's so easy to be focusing on the future and what is to come. You feel uncomfortable with where you are now and instead long for what you want to be realised already. Yet it's important to remember that wherever you are right now - well that's exactly where you are meant to be. SO focus on today and this moment.

Focus on the here and the now.

Sit comfortable and relax into where you are.

Do not rush.

Appreciate all you have in this very moment. Because otherwise hindsight will make you realise that you don't know what you have till it's gone. Practice gratitude for where you are and for those who are in your life.

The future is bound to come and it will come exactly how it is meant to.

It's such a human trait to have hope and place expectations about what is to come. But that generally makes it harder for ourselves to survive through the times when something just doesn't work out the way we really wanted it too. The solution to this, is to find peace and happiness with how things are RIGHT NOW, rather than how you think things should be.

I remember in my final year of high school, my dean called me into his office, sat me down and said "Sam, you're doing too much. What I want you to do is get a notebook, title it 'Future' and write down everything you want to do...and save it all for later." It was some pretty wise advice. This book I keep to this day, is now falling apart, crowded with things I want to do, places I want to see and explore, people I want to meet.

And I know that I will do all these things. But I don't have to do it all right now.

So to you I say again, do not rush through life.

It is great to pack your day with adventure and all sorts of things, but you don't have to rush through everything. Keep it calm. Keep it chill. Keep it simple.

Keep your mind open to the endless possibilities of opportunities that can come your way.

Stressing out and being so busy that you rush from one place to the next is a state of mind, and all you have to do is change up your perspective just a little bit, to be able to slow down.

Every life experience that happens will change you...and you cannot change things that you don't have control over. But you can decide how these moments will change you.

You can let a busy situation turn you into a stressed-out anxious human. Or you can learn from the experience, learn to accept that hard work will be needed, but that you're going to manage it calmly and one step at a time.

You can let the world harden your soul. Or you can learn from the experience, learn to be brave and keep an open heart.

Put on some Jack Johnson, vibe it out. Imagine yourself by the beach, laying in the sand, sunkissed, wind blowing gently over your skin...take this mentality through to your daily life...Take things slow.

It is of course great to have dreams and plans to get you to the right flower-lined path. But it's also good to take a step back and open your eyes to the world around you.

Patience is key. For everything that is meant for you will eventually be. Trust the feeling in your gut that tells you to take things slow - because everything will work out - just as it's meant too. And whatever way it works out - you will be so happy and joyous. Trust in the process. Stop focusing on the end goal, the end hope, the end outcome.

Just let go and enjoy the ride.

There is no rush.

For sometimes in hoping for something, you miss everything wonderful going on around you. You miss the wonderful little moments that make the journey really memorable and worthwhile.
